Planning the editing styles

Music Video: Talking To The Moon
Artist: Bruno Mars
Director: Ismail Saral

The editing style I have chosen is flash back this is because I think it is the best editing style that would suite my narrative will be flash back as my narrative is about two lovers who split up and the main artist has a flash back which he remembers good moments they had in between them selves.

The flash back will help to portray the message of love in different ways  as it would be easier to explain the narrative to the audience. Also it would be easier for the artist to build a relationship with the audience by using facial and body language expressions.

Also I would use slow pace editing as slow pace editing helps capture moments better and slower so the audience can view it in a better way to analyse his facial expressions This can build a relationship between the audiences because it will help them get in touch with the characters feelings and understand the emotions he is going through.

I would also use straight cut in my music video this is because as my artist is walking down the street he fade further down but the only way I can do that is by using straight cut This can build a relationship between the audiences because it will help them get in touch with the characters feelings and understand the emotion he is going through.

Towards the end of my music video, the video would fade to black this is just as he said " I Know your out there somewhere far away" As the music video comes to an end I use fade to black whilst he is walking down the parks pathway so the start of my story would be him walking through the path and it will end whilst he is walking through the path but the only difference is at the begging it is day and at the end it is dark.

Location and iconography

Music Video: Talking to the moon
Artist: Bruno Mars
Director: Ismail Saral

Using one location in a music video would quiet be dull and boring this is because no one would like to view the same background/location for at least 3 to 5 minutes. So that why I have decided to use more then 3 location as it would make my music video interesting and also the locations help the audience to see the facial expression and the use of his body language and also the location would help the audience to find to understand the narrative easier.

One of the locations would be Albany park as the artist is walking along the pathway I want this location he is in because I want to show the feelings that my character is feeling and at that moment in that time my character is feeling sad so by putting him to walk along the parks pathway alone shows that he is lonely and sad by his facial expression the location of the park might be able to build a relationship with my target audience as when you feel sad and lonely you would wonder around like you don't know what to do.

Another location I may use would be a hill because in the lyrics he uses " In hopes your on the other side talking to me to"  this show that the artist is hoping his loved one is on the other side so he may be climbing to find her. This locations can build a relationship between the audience and the artist this is because if I use this location the artist would show how he uses his body language and facial expression in a better standard which could help the audience understand what going on better.

Iconography is important in a music video because without it it can be quite boring this is because in my video I am going to use an I phone 4 so the artist can text her lover so we can see that he is trying to still communicate but if I don't use iconography in the music video their would of been no way they could try to communicate. Also using props in video ETC attract the audience more as it eye catching.
